Assessment of the Dynamic Condition of an EVA Plant

Imagine an aged EVA plant with a tubular reactor. The plant has been put in operation in the 1970’s and has been continuously modified and improved.

After a major overhaul and retrofit a continuous assessment of the dynamic condition was initiated as part of the continuous improvement of the plant.

An initial vibration and pulsation measurement and a so-called mobility analysis have been performed, to define an initial “level of fitness” of the plant.

This dataset contains information on operational vibrations levels and operational pulsations. These measurements have been performed without the need for a plant-shutdown by means of non-invasive techniques.

In addition, the modal parameters of the mechanic structures (natural frequencies, modal mass and modal damping) where collected by means of bump tests.

By means of periodic measurements and analysis deviations are identified, assessed and addressed.
