Broken Bolts at Intercooler and Reactor Racks

Imagine an intercooler or a pipe reactor of an LDPE/EVA plant where the bolts of the steel support are breaking repeatingly.

Due to the high-risk potential of these equipment an installation inside a “reactor bay” are state of the art. An access during operation is normally not allowed.

By means of a laser vibrometer the vibration level, frequency and phase can be measured and the deflection shape derived. A comparison with the calculated natural frequencies and mode shapes or the measurement of the actual natural frequencies can reveal the missing link between cause and effect.

A comparably simple reinforcement of the steel support can provide an economic and powerful solution.
